For events, organisations, and any public or commercial setting beyond private listening.
A Personal Licence covers non-commercial listening in a private setting. Anything else needs an Institutional Licence. Bespoke, scoped, and built for the specific use.

License
Conditions
You need an Institutional Licence whenever a Simulation will be:
— Played at an event open to the general public, or one requiring a ticket, fee, donation, membership, or registration to attend
— Used as part of a paid or structured offering — a service, programme, course, class, treatment, retreat, or experience offered to others
— Played on commercial or business premises — a studio, clinic, gym, hotel, restaurant, bar, or retail/hospitality venue
— Staged by a business, employer, or institution as a corporate, organisational, or branded event
— Performed, broadcast, exhibited, or installed for an audience
— A festival, conference, exhibition, or screening
Your Personal Licence already covers this — no Institutional Licence needed:
— Listening on your own, anywhere
— Playing it for your household, family, friends, or invited personal guests in a home or private space
— Informal gatherings—a house party, birthday, dinner—not open to the public, where no one is charged to be there.
Private and free to attend, it's personal. Public or paid. it's institutional.
If you're not sure, write to us and we'll help you figure out which licence applies.
Tiers
| Instiutional Tier | Use | Setting |
|---|---|---|
| I-1 | Hosted or registered event | Semi-public |
| I-2 | Workshop, retreat, or group session | Programme |
| I-3 | Corporate or institutional event | Organisational |
| I-4 | Wellness studio or clinic | Practical |
| I-5 | Festival, large-format event, or installation | Public |
Every institutional licence is bespoke, by application.
What's included
Every institutional licence includes:
A licensed-use master. The audio you'll use, with a per-deal identifier embedded — a different file from the consumer stream.
A signed written licence agreement. Specifies the event, dates, venue, territory, and scope of use.
By arrangement: Liner notes, host context, and branding rights may be extended to select engagements — by enquiry, and subject to additional terms and fees if agreed.
Three-Licenses
Simulations℠ licences are organised by field of use, not by quantity or copy count. Three non-overlapping fields, three licences:
| Licence | Field | Buyer | Term |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal | Private, non-commercial simulating — alone or with guests | Individual | Lifetime |
| Institutional | Public, paid, or commercial use — defined scope | Business or institution | Bespoke (one-event to multi-year) |
| Distributor | Mass distribution platform (streaming) | Platform operator | By arrangement |
Bulk and Company gift purchases on simulations.so are bulk Personal Licences — each recipient holds a Personal Licence for their own private listening. They are not Institutional Licences. If you want to play a Simulation in a public, paid, or commercial setting, an Institutional Licence is required.
